A great variety of minerals are found in the pits that are of interest to the lapidary arts. The pits are probably most famous for the reworked Montana "moss agates" and petrified wood. In addition, rock hounds collect a variety of Jasper, Dendritic or Scenic Shales (silicified), some opaline material, and a diversity of other kinds of agates.
